Lotus Gardens was founded on its 31-acre site in 1974 by Tyrone and Shu-Ching Chu. Their vision was to create a setting that celebrated Chinese culture and provided a perfect spot to relax and get together with friends. Through their hard work and dedication, the dream was realized in the form of a beautiful Chinese garden.

The garden prospered until Tyrone¡¦s untimely death in 1994 and was then gracefully maintained by Shu-Ching until her passing in 1999. Lotus Gardens is now under the care of their son, Kwei-Yu Chu, and it continues to be maintained and developed with its original vision in mind. This year, our projects include development of a lotus flower learning center, expansion of our lotus nursery, and the planting of a new rose garden. We hope to make Lotus Gardens not only a sanctuary for rest and recreation, but a center for learning as well. Our longer term goals include creating a hands-on lotus workshop, growing organic fruits, and ultimately constructing a Chinese cultural center.
